Back-Burner Projects

This is a list of projects Isaac and I have been working on that have moved to the back burner. We haven’t given up on them, but it’s going to be a while before we return to giving them attention.

(That said, every once in a while once of these will probably hop over to active projects if the mood strikes).

 

~ Books ~

Crafting Your Fictional World

• Non-fiction project focused on world-building
• Goal is to release chapters on a subscription platform (such as Ream) before releasing as a complete book.

Current Stage: This currently has an introduction, two complete chapters, and one complete exercise related to those chapters ready, based on Isaac’s feedback. Another one-to-two chapters are partially revised.

Next up: Reorganize this project (which is currently split between Google Docs and Scrivener), and then create a color-coded system for what stage a chapter is in.

Goal is to have at least six chapters and their exercises complete before starting the subscription, as a buffer zone for creating new chapters, as well as using the six month mark to evaluate how the plan is holding up.

“MOG”

• a space opera/science fantasy story
• Expected to be either a duology or trilogy

Current Stage: Book one draft needs revised. Timeline needs adjusted. Book two needs drafted. Conclusion (a.k.a. book three) needs to be outlined.

Legends of Cirena Epic

• Wishing Blade Universe
• Still deciding whether to make this a set of novellas like the Legends of Cirena series, or a set of novels. It might end up being phase three of the Legends of Cirena series.
• I’ve got the basic Litkanston map illustrated!

Current Stage: Daydreaming. Outlining.

The Secret in the Shadows:

• Prequel novella for The Wishing Blade
• Follows Merto and what’s happening behind the scenes with the followers of Ralendacin

Current Stage: Needs the rest of Isaac’s notes input into the manuscript and revised.

Wishing Blade Prequel

• Short story/novella following events immediately prior to Magic’s Stealing
• Intended to be a newsletter-exclusive short story

Current Stage: Finish writing the rough draft and begin revising the original scenes to match the updated outline.

Lily’s Story:

• Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel
• Follows Lily’s life as a bounty hunter/merc and her attempts to acquire a stolen Elizabeth pendant prior to meeting the Coalition team.

Current Stage: Has outline, which needs updated and then drafted.

Sky Runner:

• Multiverse Chronicles Novel (Alternate universe from Distant Horizon series)
• Sky Runner (an airship pirate) gets involved in a plot to steal/rescue a dragon egg

Current Stage: Has an outline (and a premade cover that I bought for this–though it might need to be changed)

The Multiverse Chronicles

• Novel in an alternate universe (and set earlier) than the Distant Horizon series
• After the princess gets murdered and her love interest framed, the LI seeks to find the real killer

Current Stage: Drafted, partially edited. A couple missing scenes need added. Needs another round of revisions. Has a cover proof concept.

Little One:

• A Distant Horizon Prequel Novel
• A special forces agent who needs to redeem himself after the superhero team he worked with caused more destruction than help ends up caring for an unimaginably powerful child whose antics have caught the attention of the super villains.

Current Stage: Has been revised a few times. Now has Isaac’s notes and needs revised from those.

Runes and Ravens

• Strong and String 3

Current Stage: Needs outlining and revision of currently drafted scenes.

Emberverse (Working Title):

• An episodic serial that might have art included with the stories.
• Gaslamp fantasy in which a mysterious event causes humans to turn into monsters and inanimate objects to come to life.

Current Stage: First season drafted. Needs revisions, title, and then needs an outline for “Season 2.”

Untitled Fantasy Story:

• In a world where non-mages are systematically killed or enslaved, a notorious elderly mage known for protecting non-mages drops an over-zealous “chosen one” youngster into the training of an academic mage whose polyamorous family secretly harbors a non-mage.
• Expected to be a trilogy.

Current Stage: First book has a rough draft of 58,000 words. Next step is to finish writing the rough draft for missing scenes, then do a revision pass on the earlier scenes now that I better remember how the magic system works. Book two’s outline needs adjusted.

Huntress Prequel:

• Novella/novel taking place almost two decades before the events of Huntress.
• Rough draft currently has 18,000 words.

Current stage: Needs rough draft completed.

Unofficial Minecraft FanFic:

• A player with no memory of how they arrived wakes in a Minecraft world and must not only discover the rules of the game, but figure out how to survive without constantly respawning and losing their stuff.
• Based on my playthrough of a Bedrock edition world, in which I would play for a half hour to hour, then chronicle my adventures.

Current stage: Needs heavy editing in order to be entertaining. Also needs a few of my notes written into rough draft form.

~ Games ~

Elemental Card Game:

• A card game with fixed decks

Current Stage: Beta-testing mechanics, polishing card art

Battle Decks:

• A card game with fixed expansions and a customizable deck
• Completed, though elements may get updated if we revamp the game in the future

Current Stage: Prepare a print-and-play version?

Phalanx:

• A board game with elements of chess, Tetris, and the luck of the draw.
• Completed

Current Stage: Find a way to feasibly produce this, at least for live events.

~ Art ~

Space Adventure Comic:

• A space elf princess joins a human science crew to see the galaxy.

Current Stage: Storyboarded, characters designed. Some scenes rendered.

Villain Problems:

• An NPC gets the keys to a villain’s dungeon and becomes the head boss. He has to deal with dungeon problems.
• (WIP panels viewable on my Instagram)

Current Stage: Characters and setting designed. Partially rendered. Some panels set into pages.

~ Completed Works with Additional Projects ~

Distant Horizon (Distant Horizon, #1):

• A university biology student uncovers the cruel truth behind her “safe” Community. (Novel)
• Completed, though there are elements we may want to overhaul once series is finished.

Current Stage:

• Create a paperback version of this in Atticus, which can be used on Draft2Digital in order to release a paperback version wide across multiple retailers.
• Revisit and polish the blurb

Fractured Skies (Distant Horizon, #2):

Current Stage:

• Create a paperback version of this in Atticus, which can be used on Draft2Digital in order to release a paperback version wide across multiple retailers.
• Revisit and polish the blurb

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon Spin-off Series)

• A nineteen-year-old hacker must remove “glitches” from a living airship made from shapeshifters. (Novellas)
• Completed.

Current Stage:

• Create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition.

Deceived (Deceived, #1)

• When Galina turns herself over to the health clinic after believing she’s infected by a hallucinogenic plague, she discovers the truth might not be what it seems. (Novellas)
• Completed.

Current Stage:

• Create paperback edition
• Revisit and polish the blurb

The Legends of Cirena Volume One (LoC #1-6 Collection):

• Explore the lives of legends in this fantasy collection of six stand-alone short stories and novellas from the world of Cirena.
• Completed.

Current Stage:

• Cosmetic tweaks to print formatting (prettier ellipses)
• Update the ebook files of LoC 1-6 for the minor typos
