🐎 – Book Quote – Omen of the Lost

Book quote day! First time attempting an Instagram Reel. Already realizing I’ll probably need to pull out the microphone if I want to do this for future posts.

This one is from the third book in my Wishing Blade series, Magebane.

🐎

He raced directly into the wind, his head low. Stumps erupted from behind his shoulders and lengthened, twice his length, and then sprouted reddish-brown feathers. He leapt. The wings repelled a gust of wind strong enough to knock Siklana off her feet and stagger Daernan. She quickly righted herself, but she could do nothing to stop gawking at the creature as he flew above them.

The winged horse circled twice, and then landed daintily. He tested his wings by folding them in and out, and then flicked his tail, his chin tucked in what could only be described as annoyance.

A tashim rises in Magebane . . .

Preparing for GeekUP 2023!

Hey there! Just wanted to give a shout out that we’re preparing for Geek UP 2023!

If you’re going to be in the Houghton, Michigan area on September 9th, come check out some awesome vendors, a fun cosplay contest, and three celebrity guests (Hint… if you like Sonic the Hedgehog or Legend of Zelda go peek at the link above for more info on the voice actors who are going to be there!).

Plus, it’s a charity event, and this year is benefiting Unite Mental Health and Wellness. 🙂

Isaac and I plan to be there as well with our books and art (and stickers!), and we’ll have Starless Night available in paperback for the first time!

Come stop by our booth, and don’t miss our new interactive element this year… find out what kind of Wishing Blade Universe magic you would have! (Let’s just say you’ll get to choose a ribbon, place it in our handy little “revealing light” box to see what color it glows, and then match that to one of the characters who uses the same kind of ribbon magic. We’ve been enjoying the arts and crafts element a bit too much this year.) 😉

Overall, we’re really looking forward to the event, and I’m happy to report that we actually have almost everything ready to go this time (no staying up until 3am on Friday night frantically trying to finish organizing stuff).

Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek of the stickers we’re going to have available (if you haven’t seen them debut at Black Ice Comics and Books).

Looking forward to seeing everybody there. 😁

(( P.S. I know I’m overdue on the monthly status report for Infinitas Publishing… by a couple months now. Hopefully I’ll get that written up after the event as well. And send out a couple of newsletters. All is well! Just been trying to get everything organized. 😃 ))

Please excuse the potential mess…

You might have noticed something different about my blog.
(Hopefully. If I updated everything correctly).

I swapped out the background and header image. 🙂

I’m still not 100% certain this is the final design (and I’m thinking I may update the books in the header on occasion). But I think this should better match my author and artist brand. Plus, it better matches the Infinitas Publishing website, too.

You might still see some changes over the next month, especially if I decide to experiment with changing the theme and updating the side banner links. (I’m not sure if the white on black contrast is too strong at this point, and I haven’t figured out how to mute the white background behind the text).

In the meantime, here’s a fond look at the blog before the updates:

SBibb's Photographic Illustration Original Page Design

Though I still go by SBibb across social media and on Daz, I’m not doing cover design as often and I’ve instead focused on writing and 3D rendering/modeling work. It was time for an update to the blog’s graphics (one I’ve been meaning to do for a while).

That said, I want to give a special thanks to Katie for being the model on the SBibb’s Photographic Illustration banner for over nine years. I still very much like how that image turned out. 😀

Happy reading, writing, and rendering!

In Maijev, the practice of magic—and slavery—is forbidden. But after Livena’s wind magic is exposed and she gets saddled with a truth curse, she flees from home with an ex mage hunter as her guide.

His plan for her is simple—she’ll swallow her distaste for the new region’s magical gods, he’ll get her to a temple where she can get the curse removed, and together they’ll figure out how to control her magic so she can return home.

But the coastal city where they arrive is a nightmare.

Magic runs rampant and its citizens have no concept of equality among fellow mortals.

When Livena spots a cruel lord taunting children with slave collars, her untamed magic sends him flying across the busy street. Unfortunately, he recognizes her guide in the aftermath, and they have a less-than-cordial history.

After her guide goes missing, it’s clear he needs rescue.

But trying to navigate the magic-infested city? Livena can’t save him alone.

Reluctantly, she enlists the help of a shapeshifting rogue. The rogue’s plan involves a lot more magic, trickery, and trouble, than Livena wants.

But if the rogue can help Livena wield her wind magic without telling her guide’s enemies more than they need to know, Livena might not only rescue her guide, she might overcome the city’s apathetic streets.
