Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

Now that we’re in February, it’s time for another monthly Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). Final proofread complete! This was my primary writing goal for January. Next step is to input the notes from the proofreading and format the print edition.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). This was on hold while I proofread Starless Night for the print edition. I’m hoping to complete the first round of revisions of Changing Tides in February. (This would be for the first 50,000 words).

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Working on revisions. I’m 40,000 words into what is currently a 61,000-word manuscript. This is one of the longer books in the series.

Next month I hope to complete the first round of revisions on the rest of Deceived #2, as well as Deceived #3.

Future Goals: Add Isaac’s notes from Deceived #4 into the manuscript, revise Deceived #4, and revise #5 before handing it to Isaac for his feedback. Additionally, I still need to finish updating the book cover and decide on a series title.

Lily’s Story: (Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel) On hold. (Has outline).

Sky Runner: (Multiverse novel). On hold. (Has outline)

The Multiverse Chronicles: On hold. (Needs edits).

Little One: On hold. (Needs revisions).

TWB 4: (Book Four of The Wishing Blade series). Needs rough draft written. Needs updated outline. On hold.

Runes and Ravens (Stone and String 3): Needs outlining and revision. On hold.

The Secret in the Shadows: (Prequel novella for The Wishing Blade) On hold.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: On hiatus.

The Dark Forest of Aneth (“Ro’nor (“The Restless Sands of Neel”) & Zynia (“The Dragons of the Mist”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel): On hold.

Goals: Rough draft needs completed via the Collaborative Adventure Facebook group, and there are a couple scenes I’d like to add earlier in the story. I already have a book cover concept, which still needs to be completed.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold.

Legends of Cirena Epic: Outlining phase on hold, with the current step being to create a map of Litkanston and figure out the different tribes. I have made progress on the Litkanston map, though I still need to finish adding jungles, forests, and other terrain.

Here’s a quick picture of the current sketch:

SBibb - Litkanston Map - WIP

(It is considerably larger than the Cirena map, which fits on one sheet of paper, rather than six, with another couple pages missing from the top).

The Cirena epic is intended to be a back-burner project.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) The main print formatting is complete! I still need to create the wrap-around cover and adjust the front and back matter for the print edition, but it’s almost ready. I’m hoping to release this around the same time as the Starless Night print edition.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: On hold.

Future plans in game design involve: possibly preparing a print-and-play version of Battle Decks, polishing the elemental game card art and testing mechanics, and looking into options for feasibly producing Phalanx.

Space Adventure Comic: On hold.

Villain Problems: (WIP panels viewable on my Instagram). On hold.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: No paid ads for January, though I did have my BookFunnel Promos. I’ve since realized that the Twitter post analytics don’t tend to tell me much, since I’ve started posting about the promos there, too, and had more success in sharing them. I also tried to have at least one daily post on my Twitter page.

I’ve also scheduled next month’s Weekly Promo Highlights.

Additionally, I’ve been looking into options that might allow me to sell our print books across multiple retailers, and not only Amazon. The current one I’m looking at testing is Draft2Digital. I’ll have to make some changes to the internal formatting (no full page bleeds, so chapter first pages will need adjusted), but I’m hoping to run a test soon.

I’ve also started working on setting up mailing list automations for a newsletter welcoming sequence. Still working on getting everything lined up correctly, though.

Future goals: Revise Amazon ads, link to my pinterest account on the Infinitas Publishing website, overhaul book categories and keywords, and do the usual business ledger upkeep.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: I wrote and submitted an 8-page comic script to an anthology I was hoping to submit to. While it wasn’t accepted into the anthology, I did have fun putting this together and experimenting with writing a comic script, which was a new medium for me. I’d still like to see the script produced, but I’ll need to do some research into where else I can submit it.

The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold.

Untitled Fantasy Story: The untitled fantasy story Isaac and I were plotting in Scrivener last month now has a full outline (about 14,000 words) for the first book, and several scenes plotted for the second book (outline at about 8,800 word).

It turned into a longer story than expected (surprise surprise…).

We still need to review the first book’s outline to make sure everything holds up and the beats are in place (and make sure character arcs/motivations are lined up properly), but the current step is plotting book two. We already know the end point, but still need to figure out how characters get there. That said, I don’t plan on writing this trilogy until we have the plotting of the series complete. (Additionally, I’d hope to finish a few other projects first, unless I reach a burnout point where I simply need to go write something else for a bit).

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: The cover and formatting project I’ve been working on for the indie press is now complete! Files formatted, proofed, and uploaded to their retailers/distributors with an updated blurb. Both versions of the book are now up for pre-order!

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner. Figure out a schedule for uploading general art projects.

Daz PA: As a quick update, my holiday freebie, SBibb Snowball Fight Props and Poses, got approval to stay live in the store, so it’s now back up on the site. Woot! 😀

In the meantime, I’ve been working on a magic-themed pose/prop effect set. Ran into some technical difficulties, so it’s now on hold. I plan to start a new set while waiting for updates as to what might be causing the issue. Originally I’d planned on updating an older set but wanted to try something less complex to get back into practice. Less complex…

I underestimated the scope of the project.

Anyway, I’m thinking of trying an illuminated makeup set next, or a simple pose set (actually simple this time), before jumping back to the older sets.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

December has flown by (like all the other months?) and now it’s time for the monthly Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). I’m currently in the process of proofreading Starless Night one more time before setting up the print edition. I’ve printed out the manuscript to sort of resemble a print book as a way to get a fresh take on it.

Additionally, I waited a little over a week before starting to work on this again after finishing NaNoWriMo with Changing Tides, and plan to focus on finishing this in January.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold until Starless Night proofreading for print edition is complete.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): I’ve begun editing notes on Deceived #2. I plan to finish a round of revisions by the end of January.

Future Goals: Add Isaac’s notes from Deceived #4 into the manuscript and revise #5 before handing it to Isaac for his feedback.

The Dark Forest of Aneth (“Ro’nor (“The Restless Sands of Neel”) & Zynia (“The Dragons of the Mist”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel): Not a big update, but I did add another few hundred words to the next episode.

Legends of Cirena Epic: I’ve added several plot points into Scrivener and started figuring out who the main characters are likely to be. I’ve also outlined (in summary format) about seven to nine chapters. This is all still very tentative in how I’m going to present the story, but I am very much enjoying using Scrivener to organize this. It’s been quite useful for jotting down notes that might make it into the story later.

I think one of my next steps will be creating a map of Litkanston and figuring out what the different tribes will be. While I’m not sure that we’ll see any scenes specifically from within Litkanston, it’ll be helpful in figuring out the different character motives and their cultures.

Mainly, though, this is a backburner project that I’ll be plotting and adding to while working on other projects.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

This is a for-fun project. I’ve finally had a chance to render a few more panels and start organizing another page, though I haven’t posted any updates yet.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: I didn’t run any paid ads in December, however I have scheduled the weekly promo highlights for this month. (Apparently scheduling promos works really well while waiting for loads of laundry to finish– it’s a task that doesn’t require a super amount of concentration, but can get done pretty easily between rounds. Nice to finally figure that out.)

Future goals: Revise Amazon ads, link to my pinterest account on the Infinitas Publishing website, overhaul book categories and keywords, and do the usual business ledger upkeep. Look over my notes from the 20Booksto50K online conference and determine what plan of action I’d like to take for the next few months.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: I’d like to submit a short 2-8 page comic script to an anthology that has open submissions right now. We’ll see if I can get something put together by the due date. Since I haven’t really done comic scripts before, I don’t expect it to be accepted, but I think it might be a fun experience.

Also, Isaac and I are plotting an untitled fantasy story using Scrivner (unrelated to Cirena). More on that later, once more details are in place.

The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: The cover, basic ebook formatting, and print formatting for the indie press I’m working with is now in proof stage! I had hoped to be further along by this point, but the next step is waiting to see how the proofs come out.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner. Figure out a schedule for uploading general art projects.

Daz PA: My holiday freebie, SBibb Snowball Fight Props and Poses released at the end of December. I haven’t yet started the next project, though I hope to complete another one by the end of the month. It will likely be a case of polishing a partially completed project from earlier.

SBibb Snowball Fight Props and Poses Promo

Revisiting the Goals of 2021 – Infinitas Publishing

At the beginning of the 2021 year I created a tentative goals list for the year. A very tentative goals list.

(As in… a lot of things changed).

But now that the year’s almost over, I thought it might be interesting to take a look and see what happened, what didn’t, and what slipped in that wasn’t planned. 🙂

What’s in red is the original plan…

What’s in black is what actually happened:

* * *

Distant Horizon Universe

  • Release Distant Horizon #3 (Starless Night)

This one is on pre-order for late October. Still needs revisions, but the rough draft is written. (Full length novel)

–> We released Starless Night in November. Though delayed, the ebook was completed! 😀

  • Finish rough draft of Distant Horizon #4 (Changing Tides)

I’m currently halfway through the rough draft (full length novel), though it will likely need fairly major revisions to update the timeline after book three.

–> Scrapped the aforementioned draft of Changing Tides due to changes in Starless Night, and wrote a new 50,000 words. This draft is not yet complete.

  • Release books #2-5 of Galina’s Saga (Deceived)

The rough draft of all four unpublished books (ranging between 20k to 50k words in length) is complete, and they’re ready for revision. The goal is to have all books completed and to rapid release them, probably a month apart from each other. If I can have these ready to go by late spring/early summer, that would be awesome. But depending on how many changes are necessary, it may be later in the year before they’re released.

–> Well… this didn’t happen. #5 needs major revisions (and there might be a #6, not sure yet?). Isaac did get a chance to read through #2-4 and leave notes.

  • Unplanned Additions

–> We started releasing a themed image for each newsletter, so we’ve managed to build a mini back-catalogue of themed images.

*

The Wishing Blade Universe

  • Write rough drafts for books #4 and #5 of The Wishing Blade series.

Had a couple false starts with book four, so I’ll probably start that one again from scratch. I expect these both to be full length novels.

–> *Attempts to whistle sheepishly before realizing she’s not particularly good at whistling.*

Um… no progress made here.

  • Release The Wind Mage and the Wolf

Currently revising this one for release in late February. (Around 30,000 words)

–> The Wind Mage and the Wolf was published in February. 😀

  • Release Legends of Cirena #8 and #9

Book eight needs revisions, and book nine needs it’s rough draft completed. Also, I need to determine where this series is going to go following book nine. (I think these are both around 30,000 words?)

–> The Trial of Bells and Blood (LoC #8) was released in July. 😀

–> LoC #9 (The Dark Forest of Aneth) was named and a cover concept started, but the rough draft still needs completed.

  • Unplanned Additions

–> We started releasing a themed image for each newsletter. Since it’s a monthly newsletter, not a whole lot of images have been made yet, but the catalogue is slowly growing.

–> I’ve begun outlining what comes next in the Legends of Cirena era. My hope is that ironing out those details will help solidify a few details meant to appear in the last couple Wishing Blade books, as well as helping determine how The Dark Forest of Aneth should end.

*

Huntress Universe

  • Release Book #3 of the Huntress series.

The rough draft is currently halfway written. (I’m expecting it to be a short novel). Though I’m currently planning to initially release book three in Kindle Unlimited, like the previous two books, ultimately, I want to take this series wide.

–> No progress on Huntress #3, though I did take the series wide.

*

Space Adventure Comic

  • Finish a complete episode.

Since comics are new to us, I expect quite a few hiccups along the way. Still, with Isaac making progress on organizing scenes, I’m hoping we can have the first episode complete by the end of June.

–> So… we haven’t completed a finished episode. We did storyboard it, and Isaac made a lot of progress on character creation and even scene creation/organization, but rendering those images and putting them together on a page hasn’t happened yet.

  • Unplanned Additions

–> I started working on my Villain Problems comic, which does have a few renders complete and a couple pages roughly drafted. This is a for-fun project.

–> Isaac started work on another comic idea and has several scenes in place, which still needs polished and rendered. This is a for-fun project.

*

Daz PA

  • Release a product a month… or at least 12 products before the end of the year.

I’d like to get at least one product out each month, or the equivalent (since sometimes products don’t come out when expected. I already have a few planned (some even partially completed) that could work for the first few months. I’d also like to better learn Hexagon and Substance Painter, that way I can start creating outfits.

–> I ran into a few hang-ups that slowed me down on these projects. Switching a couple in-progress projects from Genesis 8 to Genesis 8.1, redoing part of a project to make the characters look more realistic and improve promos, and learning how to use Hexagon for modeling props (Taiko and Snowball Fight). Still, I ended up with a total of 9 completed projects (one of those being a collaboration). Not quite one a month, but still, a pretty good number of releases.

January – Hearing Aid Poses and Expressions for Genesis 8 and 8.1

March – SBibb Charismatic Bard Poses and Expressions for Torment 8.1

April – SBibb Diverse World Morphs for 200 Plus for Genesis 8 Male

July – SBibb Cursed Merman Poses and Expressions for Zale 8.1;  SBibb Seafarer Expressions for Wolfgang 8.1

August – SBibb Buccaneer Expressions for Jinx Jones 8.1; SBibb Taiko Props and Poses for Genesis 8 and 8.1

October – SBibb Diverse World Vol 2 for 200 Plus for Genesis 8 Female

December – SBibb Snowball Fight Props and Poses for Genesis 8 and 8.1

* * *

One thing I’ve decided to test changing is that last year I attempted to do a daily, hourly schedule. When it worked, it was awesome. And I loved the idea of it. Unfortunately, it was difficult to stick to, and eventually got entirely tossed out the window because of trying to also work around Isaac’s school schedule.

So, for 2022, I’m testing a new method. This version involves marking a calendar with deadlines for when I’d like to have things done, but without saying it needs to be done on a specific day. More like monthly goals, broken down into easier to manage chunks. Plus, I’ve set myself a goal of writing/editing 50,000 words a month. Anything beyond that is tracked to the next month, that way if I have a month that I know might be hectic, I still have a chance to get ahead.

There may be a few things I’ve missed in this round-up, and for monthly progress I have the Infinitas Publishing Status Reports.

Now I just need to create a round-up of goals for 2022. 🙂

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

And November is a wrap! Time for the next Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). Published! 😀

For release week we did a launch party via the Distant Horizon Universe newsletter, with a giveaway of The Glitch Saga, a temporary price drop of Distant Horizon to 99 cents (along with a few paid ads), and made several themed renders based on Starless Night.

The next step for Starless Night will be setting up the print edition, though I’d like to do one more read-through for typos before that.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). NaNoWriMo concluded with this draft at 57,000 words. I’m expecting the final draft to be around 150,000 words, but I’m temporarily putting the drafting process on hold since I want to revise what’s already there to make sure the story is on track before writing further. The break will likely last between a week to a month, in order to give me a fresh perspective during revisions. I don’t want to wait much longer than that, however, since I don’t want to run into the issue of forgetting plot details again, which caused a major slowdown for the drafting of Starlight Night.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): On hold. I still need to add Isaac’s notes from Deceived #4 into the manuscript and then make edits to #2-4 before revising #5 and handing it off to him for his feedback.

I still need to finish updating the book cover and decide on a series title.

The Dark Forest of Aneth (“Ro’nor (“The Restless Sands of Neel”) & Zynia (“The Dragons of the Mist”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel): Rough draft needs completed via the Collaborative Adventure Facebook group, and there are a couple scenes I’d like to add earlier in the story. I already have a book cover concept, which still needs to be completed. On hold.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold.

Legends of Cirena Epic: I have discovered the usefulness of Scrivener for outlining. This is my current project while giving the Changing Tides draft a chance to breathe. My goal is to flesh out more details for this story and start stringing together the different plot points. The idea behind this is that there have been several overarching plot points references throughout the Legends of Cirena story, and I want to cover those and wrap them up. I’m not 100% sure how I will present this, but I’m thinking it may be in novel form as a fantasy epic. I’m not sure if it would be a stand-alone book or a series. That I’ll determine once I finish outlining/plotting.

Right now, my goal is to plot this arc and get the notes figured out. I’m not sure if I’ll try writing any of it before switching back to drafting Changing Tides, but I’m using it as a breather project. (Bonus: it’ll help be figure out a couple plot points necessary to completing The Dark Forest of Aneth and Runes and Ravens).

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress: The ebook edition has mostly reverted back to paid.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: Isaac made a few updates to our Legends of Cirena tabletop game, though it’s otherwise on hold.

Game design is otherwise on hold.

This is a for-fun project. Currently on hold, though I hope to get a few more panels rendered once I finish my current Daz project.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: No new paid ads have been planned as of yet, however the newsletter giveaway promos have been chosen and the weekly promo highlights have all been scheduled for this month. 😀

Other Stories: I’d like to submit a short 2-8 page comic script to an anthology that has open submissions this month. We’ll see if I can get something put together by the due date. Since I haven’t really done comic scripts before, I don’t expect it to be accepted, but I think it might be a fun experience.

The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold (though I have ideas for a couple plot changes).

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: The Cover proof and basic ebook formatting has mostly been completed for the indie press I have a project from. I had hoped to be a little further along by this point, but the next step is print formatting and polishing the cover image.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner. Figure out a schedule for uploading general art projects.

Daz PA: No new releases this month, but I finally finished my holiday freebie and submitted it. I have a couple ideas for what the next project might be, but I plan to finish the cover/formatting project for the indie press, first.
