Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

I’m a little behind in posting the Infinitas Publishing Status Report, but that’s because I’ve been busy getting everything ready for the launch of Starless Night. 😀

In the meantime, here’s everything that’s been going on during the last month and a half.

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). Editing is complete! 😀

All pre-orders are now ready for release! Finished a round of revisions based on Isaac’s notes and got it sent out to beta-readers. Got a couple readers who were able to respond on super short notice (thank you!), and I’ve input their notes. Isaac and I did one-final read-aloud as the notes came back and, due to the length of the manuscript and wanting to save my voice, we chose the online version of NaturalReader to read it aloud to us. (A little stilted and weird, but we got used to it after a while.)

I then finished formatting the ebook edition and got it uploaded. ARC copies have been sent out, and I’ve been working on the newsletter launch party. For it, Isaac and I will be doing a handful of Starless Night themed renders that give sneak peeks into the upcoming story. 😀

Release date is November 17th! (Tomorrow!)

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). This is my current project, now that Starless Night is complete. I’m aiming to progress the rough draft using NaNoWriMo. (It’s currently at almost 29,000 words). While I did have a rough draft written earlier, most of it needed to be scrapped after changes made to Starless Night. After evaluating the draft to decide what could be saved or reworked, I decided to put the entire thing into the editing graveyard. (I don’t actually like deleting anything that’s been written, so stuff that doesn’t work yet goes to the editing graveyard. It might get revived later for some other project…) But it will be simpler to rewrite it than to try cobbling together the pieces that still make sense.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): On hold. I still need to add Isaac’s notes from Deceived #4 into the manuscript and then make edits to #2-4 before revising #5 and handing it off to him for his feedback.

I still need to finish updating the book cover and decide on a series title.

Lily’s Story: (Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel) On hold. (Has outline).

Sky Runner: (Multiverse novel). On hold. (Has outline)

The Multiverse Chronicles: On hold. (Needs edits).

Little One: On hold. (Needs revisions).

TWB 4: (Book Four of The Wishing Blade series). Needs rough draft written. Needs updated outline. On hold.

Runes and Ravens (Stone and String 3): Needs outlining and revision. On hold.

The Secret in the Shadows: (Prequel novella for The Wishing Blade) On hold.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: On hiatus.

The Dark Forest of Aneth (“Ro’nor (“The Restless Sands of Neel”) & Zynia (“The Dragons of the Mist”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel): Rough draft needs completed via the Collaborative Adventure Facebook group, and there are a couple scenes I’d like to add earlier in the story. I already have a book cover concept, which still needs to be completed. On hold while finishing Starless Night.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

SBibb - Huntress Book CoverChangeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress: The ebook edition of Huntress will continue being free through November. After that, I plan to revert it back to paid.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: Managed to get in a couple more testing sessions of our Legends of Cirena tabletop game. Found a couple ways to make it smoother, though it’s still a long way from publication.

Game design is otherwise on hold. Future plans in game design involve: possibly preparing a print-and-play version of Battle Decks, polishing the elemental game card art and testing mechanics, and looking into options for feasibly producing Phalanx.

Space Adventure Comic: On hold… Isaac ended up switching to a different comic idea for the short comic, of which a pretty good chunk of the first episode has been story-boarded and partially set up in Daz. Needs polishing and rendered. I’ve continued work on my “Villain Problems” comic, though it got put on hold the last couple weeks while finalizing Starless Night. I think I’ll mostly work on this as a for-fun project, but you can see my work-in-progress images (and one test page) on my Instagram.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: Ebook promos for the month have been chosen, though I need to schedule the weekly promo highlights for the blog. I’ve chosen a few paid newsletter ads to promote Distant Horizon while it’s 99 cents for the release of Starless Night. I dropped the prices of Distant Horizon for a few days across all retailers as a way to promote the latest book in the series.

Unfortunately my Facebook ads eventually fell short of actually getting sales. I still got clicks, but even when I ran a copy of the same ad that had produced a few sales, it no longer saw any sales. I need to review the data to see if there’s anything unusual that sticks out as to why they might have stopped performing, even under similar conditions.

Also, Isaac and I were invited to have a booth at local pop-up artist market that supported queer artists as part of MTU’s film festival. Had a lot of fun, did reasonably well selling books, and even a couple small art prints, and we discovered that Square really does seem to work well as a card reader option. Plus, we might have ended up buying an absurd number of plushies from our favorite crochet plushie maker…

SBibb - Popup Artist Market - 11-6-2021

Additionally, I’ve been updating the blurb for Starless Night and the other books in the Distant Horizon series to make it a little more consistent across the different retailers and test different options.

In other news, I went to online version of the 20BooksTo50K conference, and that was super informative and a lot of fun. Took up three of my working days, but well-worth it, and there’s plenty of panels I plan to go back and watch that I didn’t get to see live.

Future goals: Revise Amazon ads, link to my pinterest account on the Infinitas Publishing website, overhaul book categories and keywords, and do the usual business ledger upkeep.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold (though I have ideas for a couple plot changes). “Villain Problems” got switched to a comic project. (See Space Adventure Comic section)

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: I finally got a chance to start work on the book cover design/formatting project for an indie press. Goal is to finish the majority of it by the end of this month.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner.

Daz PA:

The Diverse World morphs for Genesis 8 Female(s) has now been released! 😀

My next project will likely be the holiday freebie, if I can get something done in time. I’ve been focused on finishing Starless Night, but now that that’s done, I can start switching gears to other projects.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

September feels like it went by super fast, and now it’s time for another Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I think this was the first month in a while that we didn’t travel outside of the Upper Peninsula. At least, not that I remember…

The month sort of blurred together.

Anyway, I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). This continued to be my primary writing project. I finally finished the reading round of revisions. Took longer than I expected since I was making revisions based on Isaac’s suggestions. (Which meant rewriting a few scenes and adding a new subplot that wasn’t originally there).

I’m now adding in a few remaining scenes that still need written, and reviewing everything for revision smudge one more time before sending it out to beta-readers.

I also pushed the release date out a month, so it will now release on November 17th instead of in October. That will give me time to finish polishing it.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). I’m planning on jumping directly into revisions and further drafting once Starless Night is complete. That way I’ll still have the plot details from Starless Night fresh on my mind. On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): I need to add Isaac’s notes from Deceived #4 into the manuscript and then make edits to #2-4 before revising #5 and handing it off to him for his feedback. This series is on hold while I finished Starless Night (and likely Changing Tides).

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress: I’m planning to keep Huntress free at least through October, and possibly November. Then I intend to revert it back to paid.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: Got a test round in of the Legends of Cirena tabletop game. Looked into getting Phalanx back onto The Game Crafter website, and realized that there are a few component issues that complicates releasing it. For now this one is on hold until we can evaluate a better way to produce it.

Elemental game needs final card art polished, as well as further testing of game mechanics.

Future plans in game design involve possibly preparing a print-and-play version of Battle Decks.

Space Adventure Comic: On hold… though Isaac and I joined up with a small group of other comic book artists, so we’ve started experimenting with ideas that could help us make progress on the Space Adventure comic. He’s been working on a for-fun short story comic detailing some of the background stories of one of the cultures.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: I’ve selected the ebook promos for this month, but still need to schedule most of them for the blog’s weekly promo highlights. Did one testing of BookFunnel’s new “author swap” option, which I liked (though was somewhat limited for options to start with. It may become more useful once more authors gravitate toward that option). I had one paid newsletter promo at the beginning of last month for Huntress.

After reading Theodore Taylor’s Seven Figure Fiction book regarding universal fantasies, I decided to give ad writing another shot and started testing Facebook ads again. I also read Mal Cooper’s Help! My Facebook Ads Suck book for understanding how to set them up. I’ve tested six ads so far, changing one element with each ad. While they haven’t broken even, I have seen some results and collected data, so I plan to continue exploring this.

I also tinkered with Amazon ads and updated paperback prices.

Also, Isaac and I did a book signing at Black Ice Comics, a local comic/book shop. Sold a few books and had a lot of fun. 🙂

SBibb - Black Ice Comics Signing Sept 2021

Future goals: Revise Amazon ads, link to my pinterest account on the Infinitas Publishing website, overhaul book categories and keywords, and do the usual business ledger upkeep.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold (though I have ideas for a couple plot changes).

I originally planned on my necromancer/villain problems concept being a short story, but Isaac and I are considering making it into a short comic instead. Could be fun… and I’ve got the first episode story board sketched out with some character creation complete.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: I still need to finish the book cover design/formatting project for an indie press. With a couple projects getting delayed last month (and a computer crash where I usually do my formatting), I haven’t made nearly as much progress as I had hoped.

In the meantime, Isaac and I have started working on story-related images for our newsletters. We’re thinking about making them available to download at full-size for newsletter subscribers, once we figure out where to post those.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner.

Daz PA:

After revamping the female Diverse Worlds head morphs set and redoing the promos, I’ve resubmitted it. It’s now through the testing process and waiting for its release. 😀

I have a few ideas for upcoming projects (likely finishing a few partially completed sets), but haven’t decided what my next one will be.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

Now August has flown out and it’s September (yay fall weather!), which means it’s time for another Infinitas Publishing Status Report.

August was a busy month. Had a trip to Nebraska for Isaac’s internship, and then (in the beginning of September, which is why I forgot to post this until now) we made a drive to Kansas City to visit friends from college.

Needless to say, I’m traveled out after the summer. But, as far as I know, that’s the extent of traveling for a little while. Time to get back to a more familiar schedule. 🙂

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue.

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). This was my main writing project in August. I finished one full round of revisions (including adding scenes that were previously missing), and I am in the process of one more read-through before sending it out to beta-readers. I have about 40,000 words left to read, plus a few scenes to add and tweak per Isaac’s input. (He was reading through the manuscript during our drive to KC).

I’m fairly certain at this point that I’m going to need to delay the pre-order by a month in order to give beta-readers time to look through the manuscript, but we’ll see how this revision goes.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Isaac finished reading the current draft of Deceived #4 during our drive to Nebraska, so I have the rest of his feedback. I still need to add those notes into the manuscript and make the suggested revisions. The general plot is going to stay the same, but the scenes need to be restructured.

I’m planning to make updates to the draft of Deceived #5 before handing it to Isaac for feedback, since quite a few plot points need updated for consistency.

I’ve created a rough outline for Deceived #6. Still not sure if I’m going to write it or end the series with #5, but it gave me a good idea of what happened with Galina’s group during the events of Starless Night.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: Pretty sure the title of the next Legends of Cirena episode is going to be The Dark Forest of Aneth. Rough draft needs completed via the Collaborative Adventure Facebook group, and there’s a couple scenes I’d like to add earlier in the story. I already have a book cover concept, which still needs to be completed.

Originally I hoped to complete the rough draft in September, but due to delays with Starless Night, this is on hold.

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

SBibb - Huntress Book CoverHuntress / Changeling: Huntress and Changling are now available wide across multiple retailers! Huntress is free for the time being, though I may revert it to paid after another month or two.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: On hold. Elemental game needs final card art polished, as well as further testing of game mechanics.

Future plans in game design involve taking product shots of the updated Phalanx board for The Game Crafter, and possibly preparing a print-and-play version of Battle Decks.

Space Adventure Comic: I made a teensy inkling of progress here, and sketched out the first couple pages for concept. (Got a How to Webcomic book by Starlia Prichard from Kickstarter that distracted me briefly from Starless Night revisions). Idea was to smooth out our current story board and actually figure out placement and dialogue. Four pages, so not much, but I like how it looks, so I figure making more of these pages will be the next step into finalizing panels for episode one. Otherwise on hold.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: Ebook promos have been selected for this month, though I need to schedule the rest of the blog’s weekly promo highlights. I started testing BookFunnel’s new “author swap” option. Had a couple paid promos last month, but haven’t scheduled any for this month.

I’d like to try a cover comparison click test on Facebook once I have the next Deceived cover finalized. If that works well to determine which cover works best, I may try it with some of the other series. But that’s a back burner project for the moment.

In the meantime, Isaac and I are planning to do a book signing this month at Black Ice Comics, a local comic/book shop. 😀

Also have a necromancer/villain problems short story I want to write at some point.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: I have a book cover design/formatting project I need to complete for an indie press I’ve worked with before. Had hoped to get that started last month, but didn’t get Starless Night revisions done in time. That’s high priority this month once those revisions are complete.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner.

Daz PA: Last month my SBibb Taiko Props and Poses for Genesis 8 and 8.1 set released. This is the set I’ve been working on for a while, and I’m proud of how the props came out. That said, I’ve learned that UV mapping rope in Hexagon is a pain. *Side-eyes the shime daiko.* It was a learning curve, but I’m looking forward to modeling more props in the future.

In the meantime, I also released the SBibb Buccaneer Expressions for Jinx Jones 8.1.

I finished working on the female variant of the Diverse Worlds head morphs set, but that one has been initially declined. I’m currently in the process of revising it to resubmit.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

August has flown in, which means it’s time for another Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

And wow, July was busy. Between finishing several Daz projects, a trip to San Diego, and releasing The Trial of Bells and Blood, there’s a lot to talk about.

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue.

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). This was on hold while finishing The Trial of Bells and Blood and various Daz projects. I did get a few small revisions made, and started working on converting a penciled map to digital for continuity reference.

Revising this is my main writing project for August.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Though I’d hoped to make revisions to Deceived #2 in July, that didn’t go as planned. I did edit the first chapter and input Isaac’s notes into the manuscript. On the bright side, Isaac read Deceived #3 and part of #4 while on vacation, so I have more of his feedback. Some big changes to the climax of #3, but should be pretty easy to implement. I’ve added his notes into the manuscript, so that one is ready for revision.

I still need to finish updating the book cover, deciding on a series title, and outlining Deceived #6.

Lily’s Story: (Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel) On hold. (Has outline).

Sky Runner: (Multiverse novel). On hold. (Has outline)

The Multiverse Chronicles: On hold. (Needs edits).

Little One: Finally got the rest of Isaac’s notes added into the manuscript. Otherwise on hold.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: I read through the current draft of the Ro’nor-Zynia cross-over and made minor revisions. It was in better shape than I expected, though there’s a couple small scenes I’m considering adding earlier in the story.

Due to focusing on Starless Night next month, I don’t anticipate continuing the rough draft for this one until September.

In other news, I do have a tentative title, and a basic concept for the book cover.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold.

SBibb - The Trial of Bells and Blood CoverThe Trial of Bells and Blood (Hahven (The Cursed Halls of Kalecen) & Alia (The Scars of Her Past) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena novella): Released!

I finished applying beta-reader feedback, printed it out for proofreading, and then uploaded the final version to retailers. It released July 20th. 😀

Since I was traveling during launch week, I did a pre-launch party the week before launch for The Wishing Blade Universe newsletter.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress / Changeling: I’ve removed Changeling from Kindle Unlimited, and Huntress will be leaving KU once its term ends in late August. I plan to take the series wide after that, and to make Huntress free, at least temporarily, as a way to boost awareness in other stores.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold. I was originally hoping to start looking over the current draft in July, but that didn’t happen. It’s looking like revisions may happen in September at the earliest, unless Starless Night revisions go super smoothly.

Game Design: On hold. Elemental games needs final card art polished, as well as further testing of game mechanics.

Future plans in game design involve taking product shots of the updated Phalanx board for The Game Crafter, and possibly preparing a print-and-play version of Battle Decks.

Space Adventure Comic: On hold until both of us have time to sit down at the same time and finalize panels for episode one.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: The ebook promos for this month’s newsletter have been selected, though I still need to set up the weekly promo highlights for this blog. Last month I went ahead and upped my promotions to four. Seems like the number of shares they each received from my newsletters dropped or remained about the same, though I showcased them in multiple newsletters like the previous month. I decided to try limiting the promos to three again for this month.

Last month I didn’t do any paid promos until the very last day, and sales remained low, with a slight rise this month compared to the previous month because of the new release (The Trial of Bells and Blood). I’ve updated the previously run paid promos to see number of downloads and the number of related sales in the week after. Then I decided which ones to try again because they seem to either earn back their cost or make a profit, and which ones have the most potential to earn out. I have a few scheduled for next month to see what happens.

Also… I now have a Pinterest account! https://www.pinterest.com/stephanieflintauthor/

Not sure how much I’ll put up there, but feel free to follow it if you’re interested. 🙂

Future goals: I plan to revise the Amazon Ads I use, which will probably involve shutting off most of the ads that are still running. The new ad I tested with Huntress never really started showing impressions. I plan to retest that ad once I have Huntress out of KU.

I still want to overhaul the book categories and keywords for the different series, and do the usual business ledger upkeep.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: The YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold. Also have a necromancer/villain problems short story I want to write at some point.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: Had some ideas for putting together a pre-recorded webinar of sorts on various writing topics. Things like “showing versus telling” as differences in writing style, more in-detail looks at world building, converting a role-playing game to a story (Isaac’s idea). No immediate plans for making this happen, just an idea that’s brewing on the back burner for now.

Future Goals: Update the Infinitas Publishing website banner.

Daz PA: Finished making tweaks to the prop and pose set and finalizing adjustments to the promos. It has now been submitted. I also submitted a pose set, which came out recently: SBibb Cursed Merman Poses and Expressions for Zale 8.1. And I submitted an expression set, which also came out recently: SBibb Seafarer Expressions for Wolfgang 8.1. Additionally, I submitted a second expression set, which is waiting to be assigned a release date. Progress!

Next up I’m working on the female variant of the Diverse Worlds head morphs set, and then I might work on a pose set I’ve been tinkering with off and on for a while. Then I’m thinking I may work on another 3D modeling project so I can keep those skills fresh.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

And now it’s July! (Lookie! I’m actually posting this on the 1st!) That means it’s time for another Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue.

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold while finishing The Trial of Bells and Blood.

I’m hoping to add in the missing scenes and make revisions from my notes in July. After that, it’s either ProWritingAid notes or a first round of beta-readers for content feedback.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): During our trip to Missouri, Isaac got a chance to read through the current version of Deceived #2. Most of his feedback has involved easy changes, with the exception of a couple scenes. I’m planning on making those changes in early July before continuing edits on Starless Night, and possibly sending out Deceived #2 to beta-readers while making the Starless Night edits.

Also, I’m still considering adding in a book six, though I’m not sure yet. I still have plans for a possible book cover update as well. Got all the pieces in place, and now need to set them up in Daz and render them.

Still need to decide on the series title update.

Lily’s Story: (Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel) On hold. (Has outline).

Sky Runner: (Multiverse novel). On hold. (Has outline)

The Multiverse Chronicles: On hold. (Needs edits).

Little One: More notes need to be added into the manuscript before starting revisions. On hold.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: Ro’nor-Zynia cross-over is on hold. I’m hoping to have time in July or August to read through the current rough draft and make revisions so I can get this started up again in the Facebook group soon. Possibly August?

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold.

SBibb - The Trial of Bells and Blood CoverThe Trial of Bells and Blood (Hahven (The Cursed Halls of Kalecen) & Alia (The Scars of Her Past) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena novella): I’ve updated the manuscript based on feedback from the writers group I go to (Hi, Writers of Warrensburg!) and given it one more reading pass. After a pass in ProWritingAid, I sent it out to beta-readers.

I’ve gotten beta-reader feedback, and I’ll be applying that in the next few days before uploading the final manuscript to the different retailers.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold. Depending on how much time revisions take on Deceived #2, Starless Night, and Legends of Cirena #9, I’m hoping to at least begin looking over the rough draft for Huntress #3. Seems more likely that I’ll start working on this in August, though.

Game Design: On hold. Not much new progress this month. We still need to polish and finalize the card art for our elemental game, as well as continue further testing of the game mechanics.

Marketing: The weekly ebook promo highlights have been set up for this month. Last month I focused on three promos, and this month I’m focusing on four. A little bit of experimenting, since it did seem that showcasing them multiple times (rather than in one single newsletter) increased the amount of traffic to those promos. We’ll see if that trend continues.

In the meantime, I didn’t do any paid promos (aside from the usual ones through BookFunnel), and sales dropped drastically. The plan now is to assess the previous promos to see which ones did best. I plan to utilize paid promos again this month, particularly regarding the Legend of Cirena series since there will be the new release (The Trial of Bells and Blood) later in the month.

Future goals: As with the past few times, I still plan to revise the Amazon Ads I’m using. I’ve got one new ad I’m testing with Huntress. One thing I’ve been trying to do is read more books related to the ones I write, and I’m planning to focus on comp titles with those ads. Not sure how well it’ll work, but we’ll see if it has a better response (provided I can get the ads to show in the first place).

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: Eventually I want to update the Infinitas Publishing website banner, but that’s on the back burner for now.

For presentations, I got to participate in a Novel Writing workshop with the Writers of Warrensburg. My topic was “Crafting Your Fictional World.” I had a blast, and I might have had a little too much fun putting together the worksheet for it. (If you’re curious, you can find it on the Writers of Warrensburg Resources page). Took me the whole day to finish it after creating the outline (with testing to try to get my corresponding presentation time down to 45 minutes… somehow I succeeded), and I submitted it at either one or two in the morning. (To be fair, it’s not entirely uncommon for me to go to bed then, but I digress).

Anyway, I’d kind of like to explore the world-building topic further, and I know I only barely touched on some of the topics in the presentation. If that’s something you’d like to see more of, let me know.

Daz PA: I submitted one prop and pose set and got feedback on it. Hoping to resubmit that once I make a few tweaks. I have another pose set that’s almost done. I need to make the promos, and then I’ll submit it. No new releases last month (though I did have a few products in the temporary PC+ for a Day sale), but it looks like there’s a good chance of having a couple products come out relatively close together in the coming month or so.

I’m thinking after that I’ll probably work on finishing the female variant of the Diverse Worlds head morphs, but there’s at least one other pose set I’d like to complete, too.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

I’m not quite sure where the month went… it feels like I got a lot of stuff done, but I’m not really sure what. I think there was a lot of planning involved for summer. And fighting with UV maps.

A lot of fighting with UV maps. (3D modeling learning curve).

And revisions. There was that, too, though that involved less glaring at a set of lines and trying to figure out why they weren’t lined up correctly on the texture side of things.

Still, we’ve switched over to June, which means it’s now time for the Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue.

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). My goal for May was to finish the first round of revisions on Starless Night. To achieve that, I set up a project on the NaNoWriMo website (because you can make projects that use the goal structure at times other than November and the camps–sweet!) for editing 100,000 words. That ended up putting my par at roughly 3400 words per day (took about an hour to achieve if I wasn’t stopping to research something).

Good news is that I completed that goal! The first pass of revisions is complete at 125,000 words (97,000 words since the last status report a few days into May).

I managed to write everyday until I finished the goal, so I sort of did it daily (though the site doesn’t show it since I stopped after the goal was achieved before the end of the month), and I also reached my par every day with the exception of one, which was the day after I got my second covid shot.

There are still pieces left to revise: at least three scenes that need to be written and added in, areas that aren’t quite getting the right tone/characterization, and sections that need minor tweaks or research. I left myself notes so that I could find them again and fix them in the next pass.

After that’s complete, I plan to send this out to beta-readers. (It might go through ProWritingAid edits first… not sure yet).

Still, it’s in a pretty good spot. My initial focus in June is going to be polishing The Trial of Bells and Blood. After that, I plan to work on the second pass of Starless Night revisions. I expect that to be a little spotty, however, due to summer vacation and various events. I’m expecting to get more of this done in July.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

Galina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Mostly on hold for the moment. I have a few scenes I know I want to add and adjust in the books I’ve already drafted.

However, the real news here is that, while revising Starless Night, I realized there were some things that should have happened in the Deceived series that would effect how Galina’s group interacts with Jenna in Starless Night. Started plotting what that was so I could keep it consistent…

And I might have come up with an idea for a sixth book in the Deceived series.

I’m not sure yet if this one will be written or if the series will stay complete at book five, but I do plan to outline it to make the next round of Starless Night revisions easier.

Other than that, this series is temporarily on hold while finalizing The Trial of Bells and Blood and revising Starless Night.

In yet other news… I think I might have finally struck on a book cover design for the series that I like and should also be on target for the genre. (Woot!) Hopefully I’ll get that updated sometime this month.

That said, I’m still debating on what the series title should be.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: Ro’nor-Zynia cross-over is on hold. Current rough draft needs revisions and then I’ll continue with the story in the group.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold while completing the Starless Night revisions and polishing The Trial of Bells and Blood.

SBibb - The Trial of Bells and Blood CoverThe Trial of Bells and Blood (Hahven (The Cursed Halls of Kalecen) & Alia (The Scars of Her Past) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena novella): This was on hold in May while getting the Starless Night revision pass completed. However, finalizing this is my primary goal for June.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold. Hoping I might have time in July to finish the rough draft.

Game Design: Isaac really ramped up progress on the card art for the elemental card game. We figured out an art style for the back of the cards (one which uses a mix of 3Delight rendering instead of Iray, paired with Photoshop filters to get an illustrated effect). He got quite a few of those rendered and the illustration effects applied. Still plenty more to do for this, but a large chunk has now been knocked out. We also managed to get in another test run of the game, and the new rule (limiting the amount of shards per card) made it finish in a much more timely manner. Needs more testing, but we’re hoping that’s a step in the right direction.

Plus, after watching an online panel at ConQuest 52, he got some ideas for how he might update the cards for a legacy game and a few different abilities that might work better than what’s currently in use.

Marketing: I never did get the weekly book promo highlights set up last month for the blog. (Though they did make it into my newsletters). I did, however, get them set up for this month. I decided to limit the amount of promos I participate in this month more than I usually do, with the idea I can showcase each promo twice (once in each newsletter). We’ll see how that does.

I only did three paid newsletter promos last month, smaller ones, and did see a drop in sales. Not sure yet which ones paid for themselves, but I plan to update the records and examine the results this month so I can decide which ones I want to continue doing and which ones I don’t want to bother with. So far I haven’t set up any new paid promos for this month. That may change once I look over the records.

Future goals: Revise Amazon Ads in general (trim old, non-performing ads and decide whether to start any new ads), update book categories and keywords for the different series, calculate how book promos are doing, and update the business ledger for book royalties (I did get part of this updated).

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: After watching a ConQuest 52 panel about anthologies, I’m really wanting to write a short story to submit to a magazine or anthology. I realized I might be able to take a couple story ideas in which I have an idea, but not a full-length novel or novella, and explore it that way, especially since those ideas aren’t part of an established universe yet.

Not sure when I’ll try writing those stories, but I do have a parody/humorous dungeon villain scene I’d really like to write…

In the meantime, the YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions are on hold.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: I’ve updated the imagery on this blog! Not sure if this is going to be the final version, and I still want to update the side bar, but the new look should be a little more on par with the brand and focus more on the author/artist aspect rather than just SBibb’s Photographic Illustration (which I have geared more toward my Daz PA art).

I’d still like to update Infinitas Publishing website banner, but that’s on hold for the moment.

As a side note, I also got to do a “Success in Creative Writing” presentation with Rebecca Frost, which was fun, and this month I’ll be doing a “Crafting Your Fictional World” panel at the June 12 Writers of Warrensburg online novel-writing workshop. (If you’re interested in writing a novel or honing your writing craft, check it out; it’s free!). Both Stan C. Smith and I will be presenting, and he’ll be talking about time-saving tips for novel writing as well as marketing a series, while my presentation will focus on world-building and incorporating world-building details into your novel. (Writers of Warrensburg is the Missouri writers group I’m part of, that I’ve been able to join in again while the meetings are online).

Daz PA: No new releases from me last month. That said, I have a pose/props set that I’m finally getting close to completing. It’s had some rough learning curves, especially regarding some really problematic UV maps. But I think I got them mostly sorted. I got all the smaller props made now, all the poses and expressions made, and now I have one prop morph to make, thumbnails, expression dials, and promos.

It’s getting close. 😀

Additionally, I also have the female variant of the Diverse Worlds head morphs that I’d like to complete, but it’s on hold for the moment while I finish the larger project.

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

May has arrived with lots of daffodils at the end of April and some warmer-ish weather. That means it’s time for another Infinitas Publishing Status Report!

As with last month, I’ve highlighted the projects that had changes in blue. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night CoverStarless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). We’re back in action with Starless Night! Once I finished the first revision pass of the Deceived books, I switched to revising this so I could keep up my “on par” editing word count for Camp NaNo (2500 words per day).

I then set up a May goal of finishing the first round of revisions on Starless Night, roughly 100,000 words on the NaNoWriMo project tracker. This is the first time I’m using their project tracker setup outside of a NaNo event. In this case, I’ll need to edit 3400 words per day to stay on par. We’ll see if I can keep that up or end up just sticking with aiming for the 100k word revision goal.

So far, though, between the last few days of April and the first few days of May, I’m 28,000 words into the 123,000 word manuscript.

Progress! 😀

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

SBibb - Deceived Cover V2 - Kindle EditionGalina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Thanks to completing April’s Camp NaNo project, book 4 and 5 have now had their first revision pass!

#4 –  29,000 words
#5 – 35,000 words

For this round of revisions, my goal was to smooth out scenes that were rough from the drafting phase, choose more specific names for characters, mark which characters need name changes (Such as Selina… whose name sounds too close to Galina), and mark sections that felt too slow or confusing.

My next revision pass with the series will be to make the adjustments I noted in the comment bubbles and add in scenes that still need to be written, before looking over all the unpublished books again for another round of general revisions and handing them off to beta-readers.

That will likely happen sometime after I finish revisions to Starless Night.

In the meantime, I’m still debating whether I like the new cover or want to try something different for the series. Not sure yet. Additionally, the series title may still change.

While I was hoping to release the series in early summer, it’s looking more likely that I’ll either release them late summer, or after Starless Night releases.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: Ro’nor-Zynia cross-over is on hold. Current rough draft needs revisions and then I’ll continue with the story in the group.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : The Joran short story project is on hold while completing the Starless Night revisions.

SBibb - The Trial of Bells and Blood CoverThe Trial of Bells and Blood (Hahven (The Cursed Halls of Kalecen) & Alia (The Scars of Her Past) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena novella) : I’ve done further revisions for this and gathered more feedback from the writing group I go to via Zoom. My next stage will be a pass through ProWritingAid for edits, and then sending it out to beta-readers.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: Progress slowed down this month. I think we got a few more art pieces polished for the elemental card game, but we haven’t had a chance to work out any more details on the rules.

On the personal RPG side of things, Isaac had fun developing a character creation quiz for a dystopian/post-apocalyptic world he created. I’d really like to write a story in that world, but I also know I’ve got several other projects that need to be completed first.

Marketing: I still need to set up the weekly book promo highlights for May, but I do have the BookFunnel Promos I’m participating in figured out. So far just a couple paid newsletter promos planned for May. I’d like to set up a couple more for the month, but I think my goal this time around is to start calculating how the previous months did and figure out which promos I want to continue testing, and which are going to be cut entirely.

Future goals: Revise Amazon Ads in general (though I’ve mostly been trimming them back rather than creating anything new), check book categories and keywords for the different series (I did update the categories for the Legends of Cirena series on Amazon), and calculate how book promos are doing/update the business ledger for book royalties.

LitRPG / GameLit Story: On hold. (Needs revisions and restructuring).

Other Stories: YA SciFi Alien Invasion/Dystopian Conspiracy short story revisions on hold.

SBibb’s Photographic Illustration: I still need to update the imagery on this blog and the Infinitas Publishing website banner.

Daz PA: My SBibb Diverse World Morphs for 200 Plus for Genesis 8 Male set has released!

This one has a variety of 25 head morphs that uses the 200 Plus Head and Face Morphs for Genesis 8 Male(s) product by Dogz and Zev0. (That morph set was one of the first products I picked up, and has been extremely useful for character creation. I highly recommend it).

Anyway, the Diverse World head morph set is one that I started creating when applying to become a PA at Daz. I got sidetracked working on other products, so I only just now finished and released it.

SBibb - Diverse Worlds Daz Main Image

I’m now working on a Diverse World companion set for Genesis 8 females as a side project, and plan to submit that once it’s complete.

Meanwhile, I’ve continued working on a pose set that required modeling props for it. I finally figured out how to fix the UV maps, and so that project is moving along nicely. The main props are finished, with a couple smaller pieces to make, but the most complex piece is done. Next step will be making the poses to go along with it.

Also… I’m excited to announce that I participated in an interview with Daz for their recent Michael and Victoria inclusion bundles, and I discussed my process in working on the hearing aids pose set. 😀

Infinitas Publishing – Status Report

March has marched on, and April is here with spring flowers starting to finally poke their leaves through the damp ground. It’s time for the monthly status report! 😀

Since I realized this list is getting kind of long due to the number of various projects in various stages, I’ve highlighted the ones with changes since the previous report in blue. Hopefully that’ll make it a little easier to read. 🙂

* * *

Starless Night: (Book 3 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold for revisions while revising Deceived drafts.

Changing Tides: (Book 4 of the Distant Horizon series). On hold with a rough draft at 50,000 words.

The Glitch Saga (Distant Horizon spin-off series): Goal is to eventually create a new cover and print edition for the complete collection edition. (On hold).

SBibb - Deceived Cover V2 - Kindle EditionGalina’s Saga (Deceived) (Distant Horizon spin-off series): I’ve finished the major revisions to the second book and third book in the series. There’s still some small tweaks that need to be made before the next revision pass, as well as a couple scenes I’m debating adding. I plan to do the next pass once I get the rest of the series revised.

Next up is editing the fourth book in the series. It’s helping that I’ve set my April Camp NaNo goal as finishing the first pass of revisions on the series (75,000 words to revise in April. I’ve currently revised 20,500 words).

Also…

I’ve finished working on a new cover for the first book in the series. The series title may still change, but I’m going to see how the new cover does first. (Trying that “make one change and see how it does” method). I may end up switching back to the original cover, or a variant of the original cover, or something entirely new. But the first step in trying something different is complete. I’m hoping to get the cover design change ironed out before setting up the second book for pre-orders.

Lily’s Story: (Distant Horizon series spin-off/prequel novel) On hold. (Has outline).

Sky Runner: (Multiverse novel). On hold. (Has outline)

The Multiverse Chronicles: On hold. (Needs edits).

Little One: I got a few more notes added into the manuscript, but there’s more to be done. This was kind of on the back burner while finishing last year’s business taxes so I could get them submitted on time.

The Legends of Cirena – Collaborative Adventure Facebook Group: Ro’nor-Zynia cross-over is on hold. Current rough draft needs revisions and then I’ll continue with the story in the group.

The Wind Mage and the Wolf (“Livena (The Wind Mage of Maijev”) & Nuaka (“The Gryphon and the Mountain Bear”) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena short novel) : Has it really been a month since this released? Wow, time flies.

Anyway, the Joran short story side project is progressing slowly but surely (mostly getting written and revised during the biweekly Zoom writing sprints of one of the writing groups I go to). It’s still in rough draft phase, and now in the spot where I have to reference what happens in The Wind Mage and the Wolf due to an overlapping scene.

SBibb - The Trial of Bells and Blood CoverLegends of Cirena #8 / The Trial of Bells and Blood (Hahven (The Cursed Halls of Kalecen) & Alia (The Scars of Her Past) cross-over / A Legends of Cirena novella) :

March was a month of finishing cover designs. Legends of Cirena #8 (Now titled, The Trial of Bells and Blood) has a cover!

It also has a release date planned for July 21st, and is available for pre-order. 😀

Amazon (US) | Amazon (UK) | Apple Books | BN.com | Kobo | Smashwords

I’ve been reading it in the writing group I go to via Zoom (hi, everybody!) for critique. My next stage is a read-aloud with Isaac, a pass through ProWritingAid for edits, and then sending it out to beta-readers.

“MOG”: On hold. (Needs revisions)

Changeling: (Huntress #2) Needs formatting for print. On hold.

Huntress 3: Needs rough draft completed. (Currently at 25,000 words) On hold.

Game Design: So, uh… this got an unexpected spike in progress last month. Isaac has continued to fly through art creation for his fantasy card game idea, so a good chunk of the card art is waiting for me to finalize the lighting and make sure it’s aligned properly.

Plus, he ironed out more of the rules to the game, and I put together a beta version of the cards with Sharpie drawings on index cards, and we got a chance to test the game. We’ve done three trial runs thus far (the first two were probably around an hour, the third, after changing how resources are collected, ran almost two hours), and have been tinkering with the rules as we go to get it working smoothly.

It’s still primarily a for-fun project, but there’s a chance it’ll end up published eventually.

As usual, I still need to get around to making product shots of the updated Phalanx board for The Game Crafter.

Also… Isaac has teased the idea of possibly making a print-and-play version of Battle Decks. Nothing’s settled on that idea, but it’s being tossed around as a maybe.

Space Adventure Comic: On hold until both of us have time to sit down at the same time and finalize panels for episode one.

Emberverse (Working Title):  Revisions on hold. Needs title. Needs outline for “Season 2.”

Marketing: I’ve set up BookFunnel Promos for April and I’ve started setting up the blog’s weekly promo highlights.

I’ve scheduled a few paid newsletter promos for April but I’m backing off them a little to see how the sales are doing.

I need to revise Amazon Ads in general, and I plan to check book categories and keywords of a series at a time.

I finally culled the Wishing Blade Universe newsletter of inactive subscribers, and I finally finished business taxes. (Good thing… those were due in March). As a bonus, I’ve actually started this year’s business taxes, too. If I can keep up with them on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, it’s going to make finalizing taxes next year so much easier.

Daz PA: I finished the promos for the character head morph set, it’s gone through QA, and I have a release date! So that one is complete.

In the meantime, I’ve been working on a couple pose sets that also have props, which means I’ve been spending more time with Hexagon tutorials to get a better idea of how to model what I’m trying to create. (Woot, 3D modeling!) I’m thrilled to announce that I think I have successfully modeled an ink pen! I also managed to model and rig a cute-little wormy worm. Might not seem like much, but small steps. 😀
